Danisco's Position Paper on Sustainability

Sustainable development is defined by its proponents as balancing the fulfillment of human needs with the protection of the natural environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present, but in the indefinite future.

Danisco's commitment to sustainability is an integral part of our vision as a leading supplier of value-adding ingredients to the global industry. Our goal is to incorporate sustainable development into every link in our value chain by acting as a responsible company in our activities, and in our relations with stakeholders.

Our approach to sustainability ensures that policies, procedures and systems on the following areas:

  • Health and safety, the environment and quality
  • Product safety
  • Environmental ethics
  • Business integrity and social issues

are in place at all our production facilities and continuously improved.

As a responsible company, we strive to ensure we use responsible suppliers with a sound business based on sustainable principles. Our aim is to guide suppliers towards a more sustainable concept by the use of dialogue; our supplier guidelines represent a valuable tool for this purpose.

All our existing raw material suppliers are approved, and documented specifications exist for all raw materials. Guidelines exist detailing our requirements regarding sustainability issues. Our approved suppliers must comply with the International Labour Organisation's (ILO) Convention. Particular attention is paid to: Equal opportunities, freedom of association, abolition of forced labour, elimination of child labour, wages and work hours.

All actions related to our products (development, manufacturing) are made in accordance with the principles in this position paper.
