The site

Danisco Colombia Ltda produces coagulants (dairy enzymes) used in tablets, powders and liquids. In addition, the site's key technologies are blending, tabletting and packaging. The site runs five days a week and also houses sales for Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Suriname and Guyana.

In total, the site employs 26 people, of whom eight in Sales & Marketing, 11 in Finance and Administration, six in Production and one General Manager.

History

Danisco Colombia Ltda started operations as a subsidiary in May 1996 after many years of servicing the market through agents. The site started out with three employees: a sales manager, an assistant and a half-time financial supervisor. Today, sales are much bigger and the site supports sales for the Andean region.

Local community & environment

The site is currently located in the Alamos industrial zone in Bogotá, Colombia, near the airport, which is situated at the western end of the city. Bogotá is the capital of Colombia and has a total of seven million inhabitants.

The capital is located in the middle of the country in the eastern mountain chain called Cordillera Oriental. The altitude of Bogotá is 2,600 metres above the sea, so temperatures change from around 10º C at nights to 21º C during the daytime.
