The plant - running 24 hours a day, seven days a week - produces:
- Emulsifiers
- Enzymes
- Food safety products: antimicrobials, antioxidants and protective cultures
- Textural ingredients
- Enzymes
- Pharmaceuticals
The site also houses innovation activities and a logistics centre. In all, Danisco Grindsted employs around 600 people: three in IT, 20 in Innovation, 31 in Administration, 20 in Engineering, 325 in Production, 64 in Logistics, 53 in QA and QC, 11 in Purchasing and 81 in Workshop and Supply.
History
The plant dates back to 1924 as an innovative founder producing explosives.
For many years the Grindsted plant mainly produced pharmaceutical products and vitamins.
The production of food ingredients began in 1930 and since 1980, focus has been on food ingredients.
Local community & environment
Grindsted is a small community with a population of around 17,000. Danisco is the second largest employer in Grindsted and good relations with the local community are essential for us.Grindsted offers
Child care
The town offers child-care facilities. Opening hours in day nurseries and kindergartens vary. Standard opening hours are from 6 am to 5 pm. Grindsted also offers private child care.
Education
Grindsted has primary/secondary schools, an upper secondary school and a business college.
Leisure
The town provides sports facilities for sports associations and residents of the town. The facilities consist of a large number of outdoor sports grounds, sports centres and an indoor swimming pool.
Culture
Grindsted's cultural history museum has several exhibitions.
Events
Every year, nature guides arrange some 35 activities and excursions to various localities in town.
