The plant operates 24 hours a day, five days a week and produces functional systems, i.e. blends of stabilisers and emulsifiers.

The site employs a total of 47 people: 34 operators in production, two operators in sample orders, two responsible for equipment and maintenance, three laboratory technicians, one quality engineer, one production planner, two logistics assistants, one secretary and one site manager.

Danisco Haderslev has its own staff association that organises various staff events for its members and a sports club that arranges sporting activities also for its members.

History
The plant was constructed in 1988 for the production of pea protein, starch and fibres but was closed in 1992. The plant was subsequently converted into producing functional systems, the production of which started in 1996.
Local community & environment
Around 30,000 people live in Haderslev, and Danisco is one of several large enterprises in the area, which is expected to see higher growth due to the establishment of several industrial parks and the proximity of the motorway, which is attractive to many businesses.

Education
Haderslev has a variety of educational institutions, including primary and secondary schools, a business college, a sports college, a teacher training college, an adult education centre and ample opportunity for supplementary training. In addition, the town offers a number of schools for people with special educational needs.

Leisure
There are many indoor and outdoor sports facilities in town, allowing for sporting activities at all levels and for all age groups. The close vicinity to both forest and beach makes for enjoyable outings or a trip to the deer park to watch deer in their natural habitat.

The town also offers an activity house where everybody can explore their creativity and receive instructions in various workshops (more info at www.bispen.dk). Haderslev Marina attracts locals as well as tourists all through the summer, ensuring a lively atmosphere.

Culture
Haderslev is a medieval town with a wealth of old and beautiful buildings that can be enjoyed on guided tours of the town, which also include a visit to Haderslev Cathedral. There are a number of museums in Haderslev and the surrounding areas (more info at www.haderslev-museum.dk).

Events
Many events are arranged throughout the year, including the annual "Kløften Festival" with local, national and international artists, a jazz festival and a town fair. Besides music events, Haderslev offers guided excursions to surrounding natural resorts, and in the summer months you can take a trip up Haderslev Fjord to the village of Årøsund on the old paddle steamer 'Helene' (more info at www.haderslev-turist.dk).

Location
Haderslev is situated in the southern part of the Jutland peninsula, about three hours from Danisco's headquarters in Copenhagen and one hour from Billund Airport offering worldwide connections.
