History
Danisco (China) Co., Ltd. was established on 22 December 1995 and inaugurated on 28 May 1999 by Danisco A/S for the purpose of producing food ingredients, including emulsifier and functional systems, and to sell most of Danisco's ingredients to the food industry in China as well as abroad.
On 19 July 2002 Danisco Ingredients (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was established as a trading company in Shanghai Wai Gao Qiao Free Trade Zone. In October 2002 our flavour plant in Kunshan was inaugurated. A Danish-Chinese joint venture, Danisco Tianguan, was set up on 2 April 2004 in the middle of the Chinese Henan Province for the production of Xanthan gum.
In November 2004, Danisco A/S signed a joint venture agreement with the Chinese company Henan Tangyin Yuxin Co., Ltd. in the Henan Province. The joint venture, in which Danisco holds a majority, will manufacture Xylitol and Xylose.
Local community & environment
In 2003, the Danisco plant in Kunshan was awarded a prize as one of the best foreign-invested enterprises in Kunshan in 2003. The Danisco name is well known in Kunshan, and the company has established good relations with the local community.Kunshan offers:
Education
There are three institutions of higher education, 32 secondary schools, three vocational schools and a special school, East China Taiwanese School.
Cultural and sports facilities
In addition to three golf courses, the Kunqu Opera Museum, the Grand Theatre, the Citizen's Centre for Social Activities, stadiums, swimming pools and public libraries are open to the residents.
Tourism
Kunshan is the birthplace of the Kunqu Opera, the "mother" of other forms of opera in China and one of the "masterpieces of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity" rewarded by UNESCO. The thousand-year-old Zhouzhuang Town is entitled "Top Water Town in China". Kunshan Rock, Viburnum Flower and Twin Lotus make up the Three Treasures of Kunshan.
