The covering letter should highlight key points in your CV and be relevant to the criteria set out in the job description.

• Qualifications are important but so is experience gained on the job or through other acitivities.
• Highlight skills and experience that match the job you are applying for. 
• Keep to the point, focusing on your achievements, rather than tasks.
• Check your spelling and grammar for mistakes, ask a friend to give you a second opinion.
• Show us that you are motivated and use the website, research your area.
• Be honest and factual.
• Keep your cover letter to one page.
