The site

Danisco Deutschland is a biotechnological company, with both innovation and production activities.

§ Innovation works within the areas of process development, culture development and food safety and protection.
§ Production manufactures frozen and freeze-dried cultures

Production key technologies are:

• fermentation (5-20,000 l)
• centrifugation
• deep-frozen pelletizing
• freeze-drying
• blending/filling

The customers are mainly in the food industry, especially the dairy industry, but also in the meat, bread and vegetable industries as well as the pharmaceutical industry and agriculture. The product range comprises starter cultures, media, mould cultures, ripening cultures as well as protective cultures. In this product segment, the company has a leading position in the global market.

The site also houses a logistics centre, which in total gives Danisco Deutschland a number of approximately 265 employees.

History

Niebüll is a small community with a population of around 9,000 people. Danisco is the biggest employer in Niebüll and good relations with the local community are essential for us. At the moment we educate 26 trainees - most of them coming from Niebüll and the surrounding area. In addition, we support local sports activities as well as charities.

Leisure
The town provides sports facilities for sports associations and residents of the town. The facilities consist of outdoor sports grounds, sports centres, indoor and open-air swimming pools.
