FAQ on Danisco Knowledge Award

Q: How do I enter?
A: Please use the required entry form found in your communication kit or on the download page. We’ll send any contest news or updates to the email address you designate.


Q: How do I send my entry to Danisco?
A: Please send your entry by mail to (make sure you get your professors signature first!):

Q: Where can I get my ingredients?
A: You can order them as free samples by calling or e-mailing Danisco, attn. Cathy Miller at cathy.miller@danisco.com or phone 800-255-6837 x3535. There is also a sample form located on the download page of this website.


Q: What kind of project should I submit? What type of products have been submitted in the past?
A: Please see our 2009 product review booklet. These are submitted product entries from our 2009 competition. This 2009 Product Review booklet is simply to assist you with your product selection.


Q: When will the contest take place?
A: The contest is launched November 1, 2009. Entry forms are due by February 12, 2010. All product entries must be submitted to Danisco no later than Thursday April 22, 2010.


Q: What will be awarded?
A: $10,000 to first place, $5,000 to second place and $2,000 to third place.

Only one cash award per concept will be granted. Teams must designate one "team leader" to act on behalf of the team.


Q: When is the winner announced?
A: To accept the award, the winners and their advisor or chairperson receive an all expenses paid trip to the annual 2010 Prepared Foods New Products Conference. Specifics of the trip will be confirmed at a later date.

Q: How will Danisco use my entry if I win?
A: The winning entries may be used in Danisco's communication and Knowledge Award marketing.


Q: Do I have to pay tax of the prize?
A: Taxes are the sole responsibility of the winning participants.


Q: Can only students from certain academic institutions participate?
A: All Juniors, Seniors or graduate students from 4 year accredited academic institutions offering a degree in food science or related degree are welcome to participate. The Danisco Knowledge Award is not tied to a specific country or region. However, Danisco invites relevant academic institutions within the United States to participate.


Q: How should my report be submitted?
A: First see the report criteria page of this website. Submit an electronic copy to rebecca.bingman@danisco.com by Thursday April 22, 2010. If a hard copy cannot be submitted please contact Rebecca for specific instructions.


Q: I have formulation questions or need technical assistance. Who can I contact?
