Find out what our students are working on at Danisco

Because we place so much emphasis on innovation and advanced technology, we often work closely with universities.

At our local sites around the world, you will find professors and students working on projects, applying their knowledge and skills to gain hands-on experience in a business context.

The local sites manage their own student programmes to meet the needs of their business.

Add knowledge to bakery innovation

Jiang Junru is a senior student from the food school of Jiangnan University.

"I work as an assistant in Bakery lab of Innovation Department in a Danisco internship and help to supervise and complete experiments."

"The working environment and harmonious relationship make me very happy to devote myself to work. I enjoy working here and try to add my knowledge to Danisco."

Coaching in confectionary innovation

Zhangqian has a bachelor from the East China University of Science and Technology and works as an intern at Danisco.

My main responsibility is to assist engineers and to design the recipes and carry out experiments - and to translate articles about global confectionery market trends.

"I have learned a lot here and I really appreciate the coaching and help provided by Danisco teachers. I will treasure up this one-year-period experience."

Importance of dialogue in dairy Innovation

Li Qinghui studies at the East China University of Science and Technology and works in the Dairy lab of the Innovation department at Danisco Shanghai Centre as a trainee.

"I have learned so much about food ingredients and their applications, especially, in dairy products. Danisco lets me recognise the importance of the dialogue which can support critical and collective thinking."

Learning about culture innovation

Sun Qing is a student of the East China University of Science and Technology and works as an intern in Danisco.

My duty is to assist an engineer designing recipes and doing experiments.

"I really enjoy my life since I came here. I learned a lot. For example, I learned how to handle a key laboratory instrument. I also know about the procedure of exploiting new products. I think I have increased my knowledge significantly at Danisco."

A globalised company with great opportunities

Lars Bang did his internship at Danisco Grindsted working with producing a new kind of emulsifier. The work took place in the development department placed in the pilot plant area.

In the laboratory I had access to all necessary chemicals and equipment and the knowledge of the permanent staff working in the department.

The staff was always very helpful providing ideas e.g. on how to perform different chemical setups and analysis.

"As a student I was very fond of the working environment that Danisco provided. Whenever needed there was always information to find in the different departments. No matter what the problem consisted of, there was always expertise to find, if not in the local department then worldwide."

"I experienced Danisco as a globalised company with great opportunities to evolve ones competencies and always being professionally challenged."

Laboratory experiments on a pilot filtration plant

When we had to do our bachelor thesis which was part of our education as engineers in bioprocess technology at the Engineering College of Aarhus, we asked Danisco if they had an interesting suggestion for a project for us. They would like us to conduct a laboratory experiment on a pilot filtration plant.

"The employees at Danisco were very helpful during the project; for instance they took care of technical analyses for which we did not have the necessary equipment."

They also gave some very useful feedback in relation to technical problems. All in all working with Danisco was a positive and educational process for us."

Food quality and safety management

Matthieu Galerne has a 2 year technical degree in Quality in food industries and a 3-years university degree in Quality and risk management. Matthieu works at Danisco as part of his preparation of a master degree in Quality Management.

I work as a trainee in the Quality, Hygiene, Safety & Environment department (QHSE) with safeway program training, management of the continual improvement system, update of quality and security procedures and recordings and food safety aspects.

"I want to work for a food company like Danisco, because I want to apply the knowledge that I have acquired during my previous studies: microbiology, industrial engineering and Quality."

Challenging and motivating work environment

Céline Djemaoun studies a master in microbiology in Dangé-Saint-Romain, France. She works as a student in the Bioprocess Development.

The subject of my internship is the development of new protocols on flow cytometry in order to test faster physiological state of bacteria. My subject reflects the need to be innovative that Danisco wants to spread in the society.

"I found it very interesting and challenging. The work environment in Danisco is very pleasant and the atmosphere was very motivating. The persons with whom I work are very nice and I may ask them anything."

A great learning environment and experience for interns

This is the second summer for Lily Chen working as an intern at Genencor in Palo Alto.

My project is within the research division and my work is primarily done in the molecular biology laboratory.

The researchers in the lab are an invaluable source of information. They possess a great deal of expertise on a wide range of topics and procedures and never hesitate to help an intern in need.

"This dynamic interaction between the different scientific researchers here at Genencor is certainly unique."

"Through teamwork and collaboration, each employee is able to gain further skills and knowledge. As an intern, I definitely benefited from this learning environment."

"I truly feel like I am given the opportunity to make a difference as a Genencor intern. I know that the work I do is important to the company and will provide real benefits."

Contribute to a meaningful project within the company

Alex Greis studies engineering and works as an intern at Genencor.

I was tasked with the development and deployment of a data acquisition and automation system for use in enzyme recovery processes. I created the system in the pilot plant with real and simulated run conditions.

My project was a particularly exciting and valuable experience for me, as an engineering student. The project allowed me to design and implement the system from the ground up.

"The workplace provided by the company was very facilitative to both learning and completion of the tasks given to me. I was not expected to know every detail of my task from the start, but fellow employees were very eager to help me in the learning process."

"It was not only rewarding to have such a stimulating experience, but also to be able to apply the technical skills I had learned in class and genuinely contribute to a meaningful project within the company."
